FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT
Often at night when midnight comes stealing
Soft as a shadow, still as the gloom,
It seems light is gone with its brightness forever
And darkness and stillness envelop my room.
But in a moment the darkness goes speeding
Out of my room and back into the night,
With a flick of a light switch the gloom has receded
And everything's lit with the glory of light.
Often in life a sorrow comes stealing
Into my heart and shadows my life,
It seems joy is gone with laughter forever
And all that is left is heartache and strife.
But in a moment the sorrow is lifted
And peace fills my soul with a glory divine,
Christ lights my life and stills every tempest
Then I have rest and Jesus is mine.
I AM LOVE
Dry the scalding tears that blind, I'm love divine,
You cannot see this blow was kind for you are Mine,
And nothing touches you, you see
Until it's sanctioned first of Me.
Thrust the bitter thoughts away and find My peace,
There's nothing that can have full sway that I bid cease,
There is a lesson you must know
Before I have the tempest go.
Cast the doubting thoughts aside and trust My will,
For though your faith is sorely tried I'm with you still,
Whatever comes your soul will find
That I am love, and love is kind.
YOU AND ME
I never walked alone before with only You and me,
I always had somebody else, someone that I could see.
Because they answered right away, it often seemed to be
Much easier to turn to them than put full trust in Thee.
But Lord, I know that no one else can ever take Thy place,
And no one knows like Thee, dear Lord,
The problems we must face,
And have the perfect answer if we'll only wait and hear,
But friends seemed more convenient
And somehow much more near.
So one by one You moved them, as only You could do,
Until, when You were finished, there were only me and You.
I'm glad, Lord that You taught me
To learn to wait on Thee
Although it caused me heartache and at first I could not see
Just why the painful parting of old friends and of new,
Until with tears of sorrow my eyes discovered You.
