Jonathan Fights for the Lord (2)

"Bravo for you!" David chuckled, "God will honor those who trust and honor Him! I take it they did call you up to their camp?"

"They sure did!" Jonathan grinned, "They were surprised to see us, since most of the army of Israel were hiding in the hills. They said to us, 'Come on up, and we will show you a few things!' They of course thought to abuse and kill us, but I knew it was the Lord assuring us that He was on our side, and would deliver them into our hands!"

Jonathan bent over and picked a little flower that was growing at the base of the tree he was leaning against. He smelled the flower, and enjoyed the breeze in his hair for a few minutes. David sat patiently, and waited for him to finish his story.

"It was interesting, " Jonathan continued, "Because we had to keep our swords sheathed, and crawl on our hands and knees to get up to the camp. I expected them to be waiting and ready, with their swords drawn."

"And were they?" David asked, suspecting the answer in advance.

"No!" Jonathan laughed, "they were all sitting around the fire, drinking and eating! We both climbed to our feet, and drew our swords, but even then they didn't take us seriously. There was about twenty armed men in that first camp. So we were able to get the drop on them, and the Lord really fought for us, for instead of the ones who were watching coming to rescue their comrades, they pulled out their swords and started fighting each other! Then pandemonium set in as more camps came over and started fighting and killing each other! It was really something!"

"I guess!" David exclaimed, slapping Jonathan's shoulder.

"Anyway, all the hosts of the Philistines began to melt away, and my dad and his army started to notice!"

"I suppose they would! What happened then?"
